The Medical Shared Savings Program (MSSP), one of the largest value-based payment efforts in the United States, has been ongoing for more than a decade. In recent years, there have been a number of reforms to the program and in the health care system more broadly. In a study published in JAMA Health Forum, Dr. Dhruv Khullar, assistant professor of population health sciences, Dr. Amelia Bond, assistant professor of population health sciences, and colleagues investigated the current priorities, strategies, and challenges of leaders of accountable care organizations (ACOs) participating in MSSP.
Dr. Khullar discussed the study and its findings with Rose McNulty, associate editorial director at The American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC).
