An article in Medical Economics by Richard Payerchin highlights the recent telehealth study led by Dr. Jiani Yu, assistant professor of population health sciences at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCM), Dr. Dhruv Khullar, the Center’s director and assistant professor of population health sciences at WCM, and colleagues, which finds that telehealth use remains strong in primary care.
Results indicate that behavioral health care provided by telehealth is not inferior to in-person care, and that female physicians and doctors have a larger percentage of telehealth claims as a percentage of all evaluation and management claims, among other significant findings. As COVID-19 provisions for expanded Medicare telehealth coverage are set to expire, this research may be useful in guiding telehealth policy.
